- Applet
Applet is a diminutive form of app (application), and it refers to simple, single-function programs that often ship with a larger product. Programs such as Windows' Calculator, File Manager, and Notepad are examples of applets.
On the internet you will often hear the term Java Applet, this is a small app that runs in browsers from web pages and is written in the Java programming language.
- Bandwidth
Bandwidth is the measurement of how much data is able to be transferred over a period of time.
On hosting plans this is referred to as "transfer". For instance, one gigabyte (1024 ^3 bytes) would be equal to transferring a one megabyte file (1024 ^2 bytes) 1024 times. Most websites use a maximum of 500MB of traffic per month, but there are many exceptions.
- Browser
-
If you can read this, it's highly likely that you're using a Web browser. In brief, a browser is the program you use interface to the World Wide Web; it interprets hypertext links and lets you view sites and navigate from one Internet node to another.
There are many browsers available with the most common ones being Internet Explorer or Firefox.
- Cache
-
Caches come in many types, but they all work the same way: they store information where you can get to it fast. A Web browser cache stores the pages, graphics, sounds, and URLs of online places you visit on your hard drive; that way, when you go back to the page, everything doesn't have to be downloaded all over again. Since disk access is much faster than Internet access, this speeds things up. Of course, disk access is slower than RAM access, so there's also disk caching, which stores information you might need from your hard disk in faster RAM.
Sometimes cache can create problems when you are viewing web sites. For instance if your caches settings are too high in your browser you may be viewing outdated pages of websites as it will pull information from your hard drive instead of refreshing the web site's current pages.
